4164 Hydro-Mechanical Diesel Fuel Shutoff Valve

SKU 4164

The 4164 Hydro-Mechanical Diesel Fuel Shut Off Valve is designed to cut the fuel supply to an engine to protect it from damage if its running parameters are exceeded. Two versions of the valve are available. One cuts the fuel supply completely, stopping the engine. The other has an adjustable needle valve that allows sufficient fuel flow to run the engine at an adjustable idle speed.

Features and Benefits

  • Easy to install
  • Positive fuel shutoff (without needle valve)
  • Engine to idle (with needle valve)
  • Low friction seals
  • Excellent repeatability
  • Operates on engine oil pressure
Specifications
Housing: Black anodized aluminum
Flow coefficient: Kv = 1.47 Cv = 1.7
Fuel and oil line connection: ¼” NPT ¼” BSP Tr
Maximum fuel pressure: 20.7 bar 300 psi
Maximum oil pressure: 10.3 bar 150 psi
Falling pressure trip setting: 0.34 to 1.4 bar 5.0 to 20.0 psi
Manual reset latch dropout: Automatic dropout Manual hold for oil pressure:
Applications
  • Fuel shutdown or idle valve on diesel or gasoline engines
  • Senses pressure drop from a hydraulic system circuit
  • Suitable for mining machinery and ideal for other machinery where monitoring is done without electricity
Operation

With the engine running under normal conditions, the operation of the fuel shutoff valve is completely automatic. On loss of lubricating oil pressure, the fuel supply is either cut off to stop the engine or reduced by an optional, field adjustable needle valve to run the engine at idle speed.

To start, the valve reset knob must be set at the ‘start’ position. After the engine starts the reset knob will automatically go to the run position if the valve is equipped with auto reset latch dropout. If the valve is not equipped with auto reset latch, the dropout knob must be held in start position until oil pressure builds, when released the knob will automatically go to the run position.
